Date Nights

I typed out “This World We Live In” as the title for a new blog post. After a second of running through everything that’s going on out there in my mind, I decided to write about happier things. Upon reflecting on what should be happier things, I decided that that may not be the best route for this blog post. I think this post might just be a stream of consciousness.

I’m not depressed, if that’s what you’re thinking. Things have been somewhat rough, but other things have been surprisingly joyful. My friendships haven’t been going great, but my career is. My energy levels are remarkably low, but I’ve been spending quality time with family. My personal health and fitness is about as bad as always, but hey, I’ve been reading more.

I’ve been spending so much time indoors (haven’t we all?) and the outside world excites me. I want to go to this Asian Mexican fusion food truck on St. Mary’s street. I want to go to the Float In in New Braunfels, The Good Kind, and that little corner of Broadway and Hildebrand on the boardwalk. I want to see art in art museums, and do adult night at the DoSeum, and Zilker Trail of Lights in Austin, and Santa’s Ranch near San Marcos, and the Magnolia silos in Waco.

Maybe I’ve been waiting too long to experience things with others that I’ve neglected my own development. When I worked at Mend, we would encourage our audience to take themselves out on dates. Do the things. Go to the places. Eat the food. I think I’ll start doing all the things with or without someone to do them with.
